Nighthawk's early sides for Chess back when they were still called Aristocrat. Includes the original "Sweet Black Angel," twhich later became a hit for B.B. King as "Sweet Little Angel" and "Anna Lee," two of his very best. Even with minimal band support on these sides, Nighthawk's voice and slide guitar resonates like an orchestra. This wonderful compilation also features seminal tracks by Johnny Shines ("So Glad I Found You"), Floyd Jones ("Dark Road"), Big Boy Spires ("One Of These Days") and Honeyboy Edwards doing the title track with a full band. Truly a compilation that should be residing in everyone's collection.
