    Overall the BEST dragon film ever!!!

    Pros: I just watch it on VHS and the visual effects still measure up to todays standards in modern cinema

    Cons: None.

    The story and characters are comparable to the lord of the rings movies. It has that same believable edge that can engross you. This dvd has been in my top 5 list for a long time now. I hope they don't mess this up. Even without the special feat...ures it's nice to give it its due. But I still think it should get it's 2 disc treatment like most other movies have been getting. Hopefully hollywood will realize this movie and how good it was and do a remake or maybe a sequel. Read more Less

    Should be on DVD!!Great movie about a boy who must find a way to slay the dragon before any more innocent girls are sacrificed. Great for any fantasy collection.

    I agree with the other reviewer, why isn't this movie out on DVD? I liked Dragonheart, but this is a better Dragon movie. For pre-Jurassic Park, this Dragon was very believable. I keep checking for it's DVD release. Maybe it's to violent for Disney'...s standards now. C'mon Disney, you've got a sure seller here. There's nothing else quite like it. Read more Less

    Everything is tastefully executed: suspense, editing, script, casting, acting, scenery, music, effects, and costumes. I love the props: Richardson's staff, the amulet, the Dragonslayer javelin, the shield. Even the dragon itself is very convincing fo...r a pre-CGI effect, and it gets a good dose of screen time. This film ranks with 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Dark Crystal' as a fantasy classic. Why isn't it on DVD? Read more Less

    This story is both passionate and frightening. The strong minded magician's apprentice is willing to embark on a life-changing adventure where he meet's a passionate young warrior. The dragon is portrayed as an animal to be respected and feared. Thi...s story is for the serious medieval era fan.     Sixth Century England is the place. There is a dragon on the loose and the Wizard (Sir Ralph Richardson) is called on by citizens of a far away town in Urland, to slay it. He sees what has happened and prepares to go to fight the dragon. But, he is ...killed by a henchman of the evil king, who has made a pact with the dragon; promising a fair maid in tribute each year. Galen (Peter McNicholl), the wizard's apprentice, decides to continue the Wizard's work. His exploits are the rest of the story. The movie is probably the best ever done in the genre of Magic and Monsters. Special effects are OUTSTANDING, and the actors and actresses put forth a marvelous performance. You will feel as if you are really there in the 6th Century. A terrific Ten Dollar Movie! Read more Less
