    Hardline - Double Eclipse

Pros: In your face Neal Schon riffs and the most underrated metal vocalist ever!!!

Cons: Not Enough...Wish there was more!!!

This record was released in 1992...just as the Seattle grunge scene began its short-lived popularity. If this record was released a year or two earlier, it may very well could have helped save metal from fading behind the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam,... and Alice In Chains. Nowadays this record falls into the hard rock genre, but it is nothing short of a metal classic. There is no reason why this record should not be a staple in the collection of anyone who grew up in the 80's with Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, and Whitesnake, just to name a few. Neal Schon will always be known for Journey and Santana, but if you want to hear him play with a tone that easily rivals John Sykes (think '87 Whitesnake "Still Of The Night") then you'll love this. When I first heard this back in '92, I remember thinking "Holy S***! That's Neal Schon?" If you're not a big Journey fan, you'd still love this. Great Rock sound. Great Rock riffs. And one of the best and most underrated rock vocalists you'll ever hear. Yeah, Johnny Gioeli should have been the voice of 80's metal. The Japanese Import version contains "Love Leads The Way," one of the best songs on the record. Read more Less

This is one of only a few releases that is nothing short of a Masterpiece. Start to finish you can't go wrong with it. The best thing is that Hardline HAS REFORMED and the new cd is in the making set for release early next year. Neal Schon won't ...be a part of it most likely due to the touring going on with Journey right now, but none the less should be an excellent follow-up. Read more Less

Biography

Hardline

Guitar gunner Neal Schon played as a teen with Santana. Then, he founded Journey and rode their radio wave while still reaching out to Jan Hammer and Sammy Hagar for creative freedom and chop flexing. In the late '80s, he joined Bad English, which was bad idea since singer John Waite and fellow Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain (both ex-Babys) confined Schon's hammer-do... Read more
