During their lengthy existence that spanned several records and over a decade of activity, Cologne, Germany-based electronic-pop band Donna Regina was compared to St. Etienne, One Dove, and the Beach Boys. They also had songs remixed by the likes of Matthew Herbert, Mouse on Mars, M. Mayer, and Isolee. In the late '90s, the group joined the Karaoke Kalk roster for the Pool EP and an LP called A Quiet Week in the House, both of which were released in 1999. Another disc for Karaoke Kalk, Northern Classic, followed in 2002. Lead singer Regina Janssen was likened to just about any breathy vocalist you can think of, including Sarah Cracknell, Dot Allison, and most French pop icons.
