Synopsis: Don't Bother to Knock (1952)

Jed, an airline pilot, (Widmark) is resting in a hotel when he notices Nell (Monroe), a young woman babysitting for a wealthy couple. As Jed gets to know Nell better he realizes that the woman is not as stable as perhaps she should be. A unique thriller featuring a rare dramatic performance from Monroe, illustrating a broader range than most people might expect.

    Monroe's performance in this film is gripping, chilling and very serious at times. I highly recommend this film.

    I am a huge Monroe fan, and it started when I saw her incredible performance in The Misfits. I'm glad I saw that first and not the cute comedies she did beforehand, because right away my opinion was that she was a great actress. I purchased The Mis...fits and went on to buy and love her famous comedic roles such as The Seven Year Itch, etc. When I saw Don't Bother To Knock, a film done way before she was well-known, I was completely impressed. I felt for her character, and at the same time she even gave me the creeps! Imagine Marilyn Monroe giving someone the willies! It's a great film if you're an old movie buff, and a must-see for Monroe fans. Read more Less
