Could have been much more

Going into this movie I was set for some very good acting, dramatic plot, and tense scenes. Well 2 out of 3 ain't bad. The plot gets weak in the middle and some of the stronger characters seem to get washed out and are just there to fill it out. I th...ought that Douglas did his usual good job, Famke Jannsen was very good for what she had to work with. It is tough to see her as the housewife and mother in this movie after seeing her in others as the hottie (X-Men), oh well. Espisito can really be a good up and comer and I really liked her on Spin City, can she make the leap? From this movie I think it is possible. The director does a great job of putting you in the atmosphere the characters are faced with, at the psyche ward for example. Great use of lighting and scenery. Murphy does a good job for the most part for what shallow a character she has to work with when you get down to it. Some of her early scenes were hokey with Douglas and that bothered me throughout, but I like her and she will always be the "rollin' with the homies" girl from Clueless so that is added points. This was a good movie, not a must see by any means. Liked the story but it could have been much better. Read more Less

Micheal Douglas is amazing in any role. This movie had wonderful performances, but the plot left a dry spot. True it was original, but they left a lot of things unexplained.
