Pros: great musicianship, real knowledge of all blue styles , traditional, yet modern & vital.

    Cons: none

It's rare these days to hear traditional style blues that keeps true to the genre & at the same time sounds fresh & contemporary, while played with emotion & convictiion. These guys know their stuff and are all excellent players. The playing alwa...ys supports the song. They always leave you wanting more when they solo. The band features Badass harp with great tone from Li'l Ronnie, a killer guitarist that seems to know all the styles and a killer rhythm section. I love that upright bass & Otis Spann piano. The drummer as got that blues feel down, Fred Below comes to mind. Honest, soulful vocals that get the job done, no imitations here. The CD can get low down & deep but it mostly swings & rocks. From Chicago to the West Coast these guys cover it all. It sounds old but new, if you know what I mean. I don't find many new blues CD's that I knock me out but this is one I just had to buy. A must have CD for any serious blues fan. I hear their live shows are legendary. MO Read more Less

The band was led by veteran harpist Ronnie Owens, who had been in the blues revival scene since his teens, backing up blues legends such as John Lee Hooker, Taj Mahal, and John Mayall on his way to earning a... Read more
