    A very interesting album!

This is a great album from Milla. Here she establishes herself as a talented vocalist, musician and songwriter. The music is an interesting mixture of pop, folk, and medieval. Millas' vocals are beautiful, the music exceptional and the lyrics are pro...found and introspective. Some of the highlights are "Gentleman Who Fell", "Charlie", "Reaching From Nowhere" and "Clock". This is a smashing album that makes for an interesting and rewarding listening experience. This album is highly recommended! Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Divine Comedy

  • All Music Guide

Milla is supermodel and actress Milla Jovovich, and 1994's The Divine Comedy was her debut release. While it's now common for models and actors to try their hand at music, the good results of The Divine Comedy are not as common. Produced by Rupert Hine, the album is a low-key, laid-back affair featuring guest appearances by Eric Bazilian and Martha Davis. Milla has a pleasant voice and above-average songwriting ability, and the songs are organic, light, airy concoctions that work well in their understated settings. The jaunty, folk-inflected "Gentlemen Who Fell" was an alternative rock hit. Other noteworthy cuts include the otherworldly "The Alien Song (For Those Who Listen)" and the medieval "Charlie."

Biography

Milla

Milla Jovovich is an ex-teen supermodel/actress who recorded an unexpectedly interesting debut album, The Divine Comedy, in 1994. Far from the trite dance-pop released by most models angling for a music career, Jovovich's debut is largely acoustic, rooted equally in philosophy and her Slavic background, and surprisingly thoughtful and well crafted. In 1998, Milla return... Read more
