Dave Shayman, better known as Disco D, was just 18 years old when he emerged as a fresh face to the Detroit/Ann Arbor ghetto-tech and turntablist scene. From February to December of 1998 he was the resident at a club night sponsored by Ann Arbor's Intuit-Solar Records. The night gave Shayman the opportunity to spin with Derrick May, Amon Tobin, and Terrence Parker. In 1998, he released his first 12" EP, D-Down, on Intuit-Solar.
