a great challenging record to own

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 3, 2002

fantomas is kind of odd, the music doesnt grab you at first , after a few listens, youll either like it or hate it and throw it away, i personally like it for its originality.

    Fantomas The Directors Cut

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 16, 2001

The second Fantomas album is more traditional in its presentation and arrangements than the first record, while losing none of the band's intensity or musical perversity. Props to Patton, but see the band live and you know it is truly an ensemble pe...rformance. Ex Slayer skinman [please tell me hes not with those RATM dorks] Dave Lombardo carries the show--what other group puts the drummer out front?! Make sure you see the humor too, as this album is generously sprinkled with it. By the way, I saw the first tour and the band restarted a track due to a "mistake" and the replay sounded almost identical--this band is pro, all the way. Read more Less

    Fantomas makes the (Director's) Cut

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 2, 2001

After seeing them live on stage as the opening act for Tool's US Tour, I had to find out more about this odd Italian Opera-inspired band. Come to find out, they're more than what I could possibly imagine.Made up of screaming vocals from Faith No More... lead singer Mike Patten, killer drum beats from Rage Against The Machine's Dave Lombardo, Fantomas has the makings to be a storybook band for a long time. From the opening "Godfather" track to "Spider Baby" and it's ghoulish lyrics, to "Charade" and it's bizarre connotation, the entire album screams from top to bottom, both lyrically and musically. Actually more Bungle than Fantômas

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 21, 2001

    ...but nevertheless fun to hear.
It's Patton. It's different from anything else you've ever heard and probably will ever hear.
And that's exactly what it makes special and worth the purchase.

    what?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 20, 2001

ok there is some talent here, but i don't find it to be entertaining at all. to me this sounded like hmmmm.........lounge act, meets sound track writer from 1960s sci-fi/horror flick, meets death metal act................

    WOW

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 26, 2001

This album is the best 38 minutes of music i have heard in a long time. The tracks are short but filled with so much detail and sounds, only a band of gods could pull it off, hence Fantomas.
