    Good Value Laptop

Pros: Fast Duo Core processor, Compact size

Cons: True Life screen = glare & LCD screen not good for fast action movies, Not as inexpensive as it could be

I purchased this laptop 2 months ago with the 1.83 Duo Core porcessor, 1 Gig RAM, 7200 RPM 60 Gig HD, Windows media center and office basic and True life screen. The computer is really quite fast and trouble free thus far. I am able to perform tasks ...such as a defrag, Virus scan, Burn a CD, listen to a song and surf the net all at once without a hint of hesitation. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it and this is my 3rd Dell computer (Wife B-day Laptop, Home computer, This Laptop). It comes with some helpfull features such as a multi card reader, for what ever type of memory stick I may need. I don't like all the extra junk programs they cram onto the desktop. Oveall I'm very satisfied. Read more Less

Good Value, Good Deal, Good Notebook

Pros: Core Duo, Dedicated Graphics, Lots of Options

Cons: No high end video cards available, and Dell Support is not always good

The E1505 or 6400 is a great laptop for the traveling power user. It is not so big that I can't pack it from airport to airport, but is big enough that it is comfortable and easy to use. I have teh 1.86Ghz Core Duo, 2 GB ram, ATI X1400, Blutoot...h, and all the bells and whistles. I have had 5 laptops in the last 18 months, and this is my favorite non mac yet. The value is tremendous once coupons are added, and the performace is stellar. I am a big time multi tasker, sot he Core Duo really benefits my computing style. I liked my Dell 9300 better for gaming, and my power book G4 better for travel and multimedia work, but the 1505 is the best overall package of the three. Read more Less

Pros: fast, fairly small, good graphics with an upgrade to a radeon graphics card

Cons: the case is kind of bland looking

I bought this laptop with a gig of ram, a 80 gig hard drive, an radeon 1400 graphics card, and a 1.86 dual core processor. It works great and i love how you can play dvd's without booting windows. I can play all my games, even the graphics heav...y 3D ones. Read more Less

Pros: Fast CPU, good graphics, sturdy case

Cons: Too much crapware loaded from Dell

I got the e1505 about 2 months ago and so far only managed to really screw it up once. I had to do the system restore (from the restore partition) and it only took about 10 minutes tops to reformat and reload the OS. The Radeon x1400 is very good for... what it is. I don't run real high res in my games so it performs very nicely and still looks good. The display is very sharp and crisp and all text is very legible even for my poor ol' eyes. It's very quick at video rendering for DVD creation and the boot time is very fast (about a minute) due to a very quick HD. My only gripe is all the extra junk Dell feels the need to pile on, and the fact that a factory restore disc is extra (although that seems to be the norm anymore). All in all, it's been a very good replacement for my aging desktop. Read more Less

Pros: Media buttons, USB ports, Speakers, wireless receiver

Cons: Heats relatively fast, Battery life is not sufficient, pictures distort on the screen

I have been using E1505 for about 6 months now. I travel quite a bit so it traveled with me too. I left it in the car under the sun twice by accident where the temperature reached about 105. It is just fine now. I like the screen size and resolution.... The media buttons allow me to control the music or the movies without using the pointer. Which didin't sound like a big deal at the beginning to me but turned out to be a great feature. It basically becomes an MP3 player. They are nicely located right by my thumb too. I asked for the fancy screen upgrade which supposed to make the DVDs play sharper and etc. Turned out that it distorts any other praphics or pictures in your computer. Fun ha. The computer is a great buy but do yourself a favor and don't get the fancy screen upgrade. It doesn't make the DVD's much different and it will effect your computing experience. Read more Less

    Dell laptops

    Pros: not much

Cons: Porr customer support, nickel and dimes on extras

I looked at Dell laptops as a whole in the mall kiosk. I also have a friend who has a Dell.First, when I looked at the Dell prices, these prices were the laptop and did not include the software for windows. By the time the basic programs were added, ...the price for laptops around 800 skyrocketed to 1400 or thereabouts. Windows program was charged extra and not part of the package. Also, I watched a friend of mine go round and round with Dell when she was trying to get her damaged laptop fixed. She bought the extended warranty. She sent the computer to Dell. When she go it back, nothing was working correctly. She spent three weeks either on the phone to India or with someone from Dell coming out to adjust the laptop. The India customer service line is customer no-service. At this point, I would go with someone else Read more Less

Pros: fast processer, nice graphics, user friendly

Cons: crapware from dell is too much, don't like buttons

The processer is very fast and i am quite happy with the battery life. Too much crappy software loaded by dell and it does not support some graphic cards other than that it is a good laptop.

Great Laptop for School!!! I love IT!!!

By josel s  Nov 16, 2006 | 7 out of 8 found this Dell Inspiron E1505 review helpful

Pros: Great Laptop for its class; Light-weight; Unique Music Interface

    Cons: Short battery life

Hey, I have a Dell Inspiron E1505. I $950 CAD for it on eBay. The following are some of the features: 1gb RAM, 1.86GHz; Intel Core Solo processor; 60gb hard drive at 5400rpm... I got it for about 2 months now. Its really great so far. It helped me... a lot by doing some school work on it. The wireless connection is great too. I just have to be in a "hotspot" to be able to have an internet connection. The only problem I have with my laptop is its battery life. I always have to bring the AC charger. It can go up to 3 hours at its top options (brightness, speed). Having said those, I can say that Im a happy owner of this baby. Paying under a grand for this basic laptop is an awesome deal!!! I definately recommend it if your just looking for a school laptop!!!! Read more Less
