Looks like a machine from 7 years ago

By Rainer  Oct 17, 2004 | 5 out of 5 found this Dell Inspiron 5160 Laptop Computer review helpful

Pros: solid keyboard, easy to set up

Cons: poor screen performance, extremely heavy

This notebook appears like being from the mid 90s. It is heavy and w/ the grey metallic color it's looking like the old Siemens Fujitsu machines from 1995 or 1996 (maybe they had some old chassis left :) and sold them to Dell). Also the very poor ...screen/display performance is like from the old times even w/ a SXGA card. And when you do not cut the brightness in half (pre-set by factury is 50%) when running on battery then you need some power outlet within an hour and a half! The good thing: You can test drive the notebook and give it back to Dell within 21 days...and talking to the customer support is absolutely great...even when you have something to return.I hope that my new Dell Inspiron 8600 will do much better, especially w/ a WUGA card. Otherwise I will propbably shop for a different brand :) Read more Less

Pros: it was cheaper than others

    Cons: bad investment

The battery always overcharges, the motherboard burnt out, and the battery life was horrible.
