    Pros: Easy to Use

    Cons: Slightly Bulkier Than Others

    My daughter bought an I-Pod with her own money. It was such a hassle to get music to the I-Pod. I needed to install a firewire card and upgrade my OS to Windows 2000 (or XP). Then, it wasn't always reliable. It would get stuck in locked mode. It ...would freeze when music was being uploaded.When I looked to get an mp3 player for myself, I wanted at least 20 Gig of space to hold all the music that I enjoy. Being a progressive rock fan, those smaller units would only be able to hold 2 to 8 songs that I like. Karn Evil 9 by Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Journey To The Center Of The Earth by Rick Wakeman would blow a whole 64 Meg player.I also wanted to use USB 2 instead of Firewire so that I could use it on my Laptop which didn't have Firewire. I didn;t want to go through the expense of also buying a Firewire card for my Laptop.Dell was the answer. My daughter, affectionately I hope, calls the Dell Digital Jukebox the "faux-pod". But, my unit is a workhorse. I take it to work. I use it as the stereo in any car I am driving. I am now contemplating using it as my home stereo exclusively. It is that easy to use. And with the capacity to hold over 300 hours worth of music, the only time I need to actually use a CD would be to rip it for use on the Dell DJ. My CDs will last a long time.Thank you Dell.     Pros: Large memory for the price

    Cons: Dell supports it like a disposable item

    After getting a new 20GB Jukebox for a gift, I tried to get information from Dell about replacing the battery in the unit when it wears out. Three hours and six phone calls later here's what I found. Dell doesn't replace the battery in its ...jukeboxes. If the battery fails under warranty, Dell will send you a new jukebox to replace the old one you ship back at your own expense. You will lose all the music/data loaded in the origional unit. If the battery fails after the warranty expires, Dell will NOT replace the battery at any cost. If you buy a jukebox, you're buying a disposable item. Read more Less

    Pros: Storage capacity

    Since I have purchased several Dell products this past year I decided that when it was time to look for an MP3 player that Dell would be the logical choice. I looked at several other models available in local electronic chain stores and couldn't... find one at a comparable price range that had the amount of storage capacity that I wanted. Since I didn't want to replace or purchase an "upgrade" within the next few years due to lack of storage space I kept with the Dell name and the 20 GB size. While the 15 GB would be sufficient, the extra bonus accessories offered with the 20 GB jukebox (notably the in line volume/channel control for use while in the car)and the minimal price difference (as well as a free overnight shipping at the time I made my purchase) sold me upon this model. For the price and the amount of storage, this model can't be beat. If you already have a Dell computer, you probably already have the Musicmatch program for ripping CD's into your MP3 player. Even if you don't have a Dell, the software came with the player and is easy to use. It is accentuated if you have the internet connected upon ripping to look up your CD's track information. Upgrades are available for additional features from Musicmatch for use with portables. My only real complaint is the lack of a changeable battery. This additional feature to future models from Dell would be appreciated. They should, however, continue to keep the battery as a rechargable LI and not go the route of cheaper models that use disposable AA or AAA types. While these are useful for travel and ease of availability, especially if you are traveling out of the country, they can add up quite quickly especially since it has been my experience that these batteries usually die quite quickly. The provided earbud headphones while not top quality are OK for the job. I find that when traveling they are good for portability. At home, however, I prefer to use a more closed type of headphone.All in all a great unit for the price. Read more Less

    i bought my dj on the 9th of august. on the 1st of october it locked up in rescue mode. now dell has to send out a different one that is used and refurbished. NOT MINE!!! and i have to transfer EVERYTHING all over again. This is the third dell produc...t i have used and all have crapped out within 8 months. dont buy dell because they are horrible and dont do jack to help you fix your problems!!! Read more Less

    I loved my Dell DJ until the first one died with a bad operating system, then the refurbished replacement's headphone port broke, and now the 3rd unit(2nd refurbished) has a harddisk problem and I'm out of luck b/c I bought the original 13 mo...nths ago.     Pros: Excellent sound, nice design, great build, voice recorder, 20 hour battery life, awesome deal

    Cons: MUSICMATCH SOFTWARE IS HORRIBLE (Luckily they offer Dell DJ Explorer, which is probably slower but offers complete control)

    I recently received my Dell DJ. I gotta tell you, this is the best mp3 player out. Mine came with a free stand and in-line remote. I haven't been more happy. This thing blows the I-POD right out of the water as far as price is concerned. I like t...his design more than the IPOD and it is unbelievably cheaper.     I just recently got my Dell Dj20 on sale for 210 dollars which is way less than I-Pods. All of my friends were trying to convince me to get an I-Pod and not the Dj20. First off I have a PC and not a Mac. Sure they have I-Tunes for PC, but my broth...er's girlfriend has an I-Pod and a PC, & she said that she was having tons of problems getting all of her music files from the Windows Media Player to the I-Tunes. I didn't want to have problems getting all of my 1200 songs on to my mp3 player. All I had to do for my Dj20 was add all of my media player library to the musicmatch library, and I was all set to put them on my mp3 player. It was the easiest thing to set-up that I have on my computer. The installation went super fast. All I had to do was send my songs to the player by dragging the playlist to the portable device manager(which is the easiest thing to use ever) and it started it adding all of my tracks. Plus right when I plugged the USB into my computer it brought up the musicmatch program. Even though it wanted a high-speed USB and I didn't have one it still didn't even take that long to add the songs, and it needed to charge any way. I didn't even need to use it that day because I had to work. The only problem I had with it was it froze up the first day I had it after about an hour straight of listening to it while I was skating. All I had to do was reset by putting a pin into the little hole on the bottom of it. Of course right when that happened my friend was like "See you should have gotten an I-Pod because they actually work." So what any form of electronics can have problems. I expected it.     I have had my DJ for six months . It did lock up once but I just hit the reset button and it was fine. Has super fast download speed on a high speed USB port. has exalent sound and a voice recording will pick up a speaker in a meeting from 50 feet aw...ay with wonderful clear speach. a great tool for school or a board meeting/training class. do not buy the $99 dallar DLO transcaster, It does not work for crap, the fm transmitter at $39 works well but still not cd quality. the fm radio trasmitter works and sounds great. I can pick up radio stations that I did not know existed in my area. Read more Less
