it is different from their debut, but this cd is still tight. I can't believe I got it for $9 at Best Buy, now that is a bargain.

Pros: Awesome lyrics and amazing music

Cons: most under rated band ever

In my opinion there is no band that can even come close turning out the quality these guys spit out. Their style has morphed slightly from their first cd but is in no way a let down. Everything about this album was done right. Videos are incredible a...nd the songs sounds just as good in concert as on the cd. A must have for any cd collection. Read more Less

ARGUABLY THE BEST CD EVER

Cons: Eventually wears thin in excitement

This cd is a masterpiece, an emo cd to end all others. The lyrics are absolutely incredible, which is the definite highpoint of this cd. For example, in the indescribably awesome ballad "Good to Know That if I Ever Need Attention All I Have to... do is Die", there is a lyric that most definetly stands out, "Take heart, sweetheart, or I will take it from you." Every song is undeniably beautiful, but my personal favorites are: "I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light", "Me Vs. Maradonna Vs. Elvis", "Guernica", the aforementioned ballad, and a lovely comparison of love's turmoils to the open sea; "Play Crack the Sky." Read more Less

If you ever want to really really know the magic behind Brand New its their lyrics and the way Jesse puts it how the band makes it all come together. Your not gonna like them after hearing them once, their a band who grows on you the same way your ev...ery emotion does. Deja Entendu isn't a sad album or happy album its an album that show the entire emotinal spectrum. The one metaphor that they wrote that describes life and this awesome album is "you can't keep a secert if it never was a secert to start." Read more Less

I have one of the biggest cd collections of most anyone i know, and i can honestly say this is one of the best albums i own. Every song on this album is great, worth every penny i spent on it. BUY THIS ALBUM

the best modern alternative

Cons: left me wanting more than just 50 minutes of music

This review also applies to Brand New's album Your Favorite Weapon...Remember when alternative applied to bands who just didn't fit into the common genres, bands like the Pixies and Sonic Youth. They had ellaborate music that seemed to mix di...schord with harmony. Brand New does this as well without imitation or pretention. While they recieve the label of emo or punk, I believe these ugly labels are unjust and only fitting of the more common pop-punk, pop-metal sound of Blink 182 or Incubus clones. While Brand New's music isn't perfect, there are enough sonic tracks to keep you listening until the end. I've read that the members of Brand New didn't even know how to play their instruments when they began (UBL band bio). If this is so, then somewhere along the way they had a musical epiphany! As well as the instrumentation being very mature, their lyrics are nothing short of spectacular. Favorite tracks include Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades, The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows, The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot, Sudden Death In Carolina, and Seventy Times 7.
