Def by Temptation is one of those classic b-movies, that actually keep you watching to see if there was something else you may have missed the first time!

This movie is a basic vampire flick with an all black cast; including Kadeem Hardison, Bill Nunn, Samuel L. Jackson and the director himself, James Bond III.
Bond plays Joel; a minister in training that goes to visit his relation K (Kadeem Hardison) as he feels something will happen in the big city that will truly decide his future. Bond is great as the timid boy who falls for the devilish Cynthia Bond. I found the best part of the film to be the relationship between Hardison and the great Bill Nunn who plays Dougy. The most laughs come from these two and it's their demise that is the catalyst for the viewer wanting Joel to succeed. Samuel L Jackson plays a very small part (although Troma made the most of his star name!) as Joel's father. Cynthia Bond is a little stale as the temptress but has some good scenes.
James Bond III and cinematographer Ernest R Dickerson (who went on after this to work on some great Spike Lee films) seem to gel well. There are some nice looking shots, the acting comes across pretty well on the camera (with some typical b-movie exceptions!) and the atmosphere is built as the film progresses.
Overally, this is a good, solid film that showcases a lot of talent; Bill Nunn and director Bond steal the show.Was this review helpful? Yes - NoDef By Temptation movie
It has been many years since I've seen this movie, but I thought the movie was very good. I recommended it to many family members and friends, however, the movie can rarely be found in Video Stores. I have never been able to understand this. The movie was a comedy/horror. I enjoyed it.
