Pros: Good for You
Cons: None!!!!
Kids rarely ask the ingredients to a recipe. I think it is a great idea to incorporate something good into the foods kids love to eat. If they ask what is in it, simply tell them. No one is telling you to lie. It is all about making "bad for you foods", more healthy.
Pros: Healthy
Cons: Poor Taste
I was very excited about Jessica's book coming out because I LOVE the Sneaky Chef book, and unlike her lawsuit may claim, I think there is room on the bookshelf for two books that get your children to eat vegetables. However, I have been extremely disappointed with the recipes in Jessica's book. In some of the entrees, the vegetable taste was so strong that even I didn't want to eat them! The only recipe out of the 6 I tried that anyone in my family would even eat was the chocolate cake...and there weren't enough vegetables in it to outweigh the fact that it was a chocolate cake. Bottom line- I wanted to like it, but just couldn't.
Pros: Great for showing their kids that veggies are good different ways
Cons: None
After reading a another review stating that it's for mothers who don't care, I am offened! My son who's 6 is at the stage where he doesn't like veggies, so after him and I took a couple receipes and made them he then wanted to try the veggies out of the receipes. So for those of you who say it's "lying", great real it's not, it's how you approach it and involve your children. So next time don't be quite so quick to jump up on your soap box!
Pros: Lazy Parenting for Dummies!
Cons: Lie to your children, everyone else will.
What is worse; tricking your kids into eating right by lying and deception, or just taking the time to teach them to eat right? This book is a waste of time for real mothers. If you and your husband eat garbage food and mostly out of microwaves and boxes, then this book is for your family! If you want to encourage healthy eating in your family, simply involve your children. Take your kids to a farm and show them where meat really comes from and let them grow their own vegetables next spring. This book is for lazy moms who just want to feel good about the seemingly effortless attempts they have made to change their child's diet. Get off your fat buts and take control of your kids. All school age children in America are now getting information outside of the home on the importance of better eating habits, the environment, and organically grown or harvested food. This book would be better suited for sneaking healthy food into lazy husbands or housewives.
