Pros: Meatloaf and Jim Steinman's 2nd album

Cons: It could have been better

Sadly, lightening couldn't be captured in a bottle a second time, no matter how hard Meatloaf and Jim Steinman tried. Some of the songs on this album are very good, but it tries to hard to be Bat Out Of Hell Part 2. For example, the duet with Che...r Dead Ringer For Love tries way too hard to be Paradise By The Dashboard Light; don't get me wrong, it is a good song. The strongest songs on the album...Peel Out, I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us, More Than You Deserve, I'll Kill You If You Don't Come Back, Read'em And Weep, and Dead Ringer For Love. If you love Meatloaf, you'll like this album. \m/ \m/ Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Dead Ringer

  • All Music Guide

Meat Loaf collects a couple of Steinman songs, and he, Paul Jacobs, and Mack work at recreating the Rundgren production sound for an album of high-voltage rock.

In all likelihood a childhood nickname, the tag stuck, and many puns followed as the performer who tipped the scales at well over 300 pounds became one of the biggest chart acts of the 1970s before enjoying a commercial renaissance two dec... Read more
