    Not hot enough for me

    Pros: easy to operate, water refill, easy clean up

    Cons: cafe not hot

    I purchased this machine and at first glance, anyone will love it. It is nicely packed and just take it out of the box, fill water and you are ready to go. Then comes the problem, the coffee never really gets hot enough for me. This means, if I do no...t gulp my coffee quickly, it will cool too quickly....so I always have to heat again in the microwave. I got tired to the two step process and purchased a cheap Mr. Coffee instead and place the decanter on the stove over low heat.     Pros: Great Machine for it's price range

    Cons: Steamer Nozzle a bit too low

    I noticed the other review that says it's not hot enough for him and just had to comment. Delonghi is an Italian company and as such, this machine produces espresso at the proper temperature. It's funny that you mention the words "Gulp i...t down" because that's exactly what they do in Italy. Order an espresso , drink it in 2-4 sips and be on your way. On our most recent trip to Rome, Venice and Milan, I even pointed it out to friends.. "Watch how quick these guys drink their espresso". It's like a marathon! Seriously though, 1 good tip that I like to use (I like my espresso, cappuccino and lattes pretty hot as well), is to steam your milk a bit higher than the 140 degrees that most do. I know I may get yelled at for even suggesting such a thing but I often steam my milk just under the 170 degree mark (and no, it doesn't scald). It makes for a very hot cappuccino. (In fact, I have time to even clean up my Delonghi EC155 and it's still very hot when I'm finished. I've had some older steam driven machines and some other pump driven machine under the $200 price point and I really agree with many others that this machine is excellent in that price range (and even higher). The crema is fantastic and the foaming wand works well even though it's mounted way to low on the machine. I simply put the EC155 on the edge of the sink so I have a lot more depth to work with with the frothing pitcher. I've looked at a ton of reviews and I'm so glad I chose this machine.     Pros: Creamy Coffee, Fast Prep

    Cons: Really for smaller servings

    I just opened the box and made a few coffees and it took a few times to get it right. The first thing you notice is the noisy pump. The second is that water come squirting out of the steam nozel for the first two seconds. I know it sounds silly but i...f you follow the directions in the manual you will make a better coffee that is hot and creamy. My biggest issue is that this machine is really made to produce expresso size drinks, not the large cafe latte we are used to buying at the coffee shops. The coffee ground holder is just too small to hold enough expresso the make anyting larger than one strong cup or two expresso size cups. One other fact to make memtion, there is no milk steamer cup or coffee catching cup included. For the price, I think it is a step up from the $40 expresso makers but don't think you are buying a $300 machine, it certianly isn't that. I rate this as a good value, espically if you can find is on sale under $75. Read more Less
