I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE WAS A KINDA DISTURBING MOVIE. ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT REALLY GORY OR ANYTHING JUST THE RAPE SCENES IN GENERAL. BUT I LIKED HER REVENGE. BUT I HATED THE WAY THE MOVIE ENDED AND HOW THE COVER TALKED ABOUT THE FILM AS IF IT"ACTUALLY HAPPENED".

I'm sorry to dissapoint but this movie is not really that disgusting or disturbing, it is just mostly very stupid. The rape scenes are most notable for their casual banality, where the victim shows little resistance and everyone mostly stands around looking dumb. It seems mostly surreal and laughable rather than some grueling endless torture. If you want to feel disgusting I suggest you watch Roman Polanski's film "Repulsion", it acheieves what this film promises without the use of excessive sleaze or violence and will haunt you for days afterwards. I Spit On Your Grave is memorable mostly for being more of a farce than a disturbing and despicable film, after all the hype that has been placed on it. It should be banned only becuase it makes rape seem as serious as flicking your brothers arse with a tea towel.

Jenny is a writer who decides to visit upstate New York to begin work on a novel. The scenery is tranquil and her writing goes on peacefully. A group of four local men (one mentally retarded) decide to put an end to her serenity. She is frequently harrassed by this group of misfits, which at first seems harmless enough.
Then......for no apparent reason, the next forty minutes consist of watching these four men repeatedly rape our heroine and leave her in the woods, naked, to die. She recovers and returns to lure her attackers into ambushes of vicious revenge......and then the movie ends.
There's not much I can say about this film that is worth watching, unless you have a peculiar urge to watch a woman brutally ravaged over and over again. What this movie actually has to say about rape is uncertain....while the act itself is utterly vile, she uses her beauty as a weapon to murder each of her attackers. Watching this movie has left me feeling dirty and uninspired. If you can truly enjoy this movie, you're probably not the type of person I'd invite over for dinner.Was this review helpful? Yes, there is violence, rape, blood, and a knife in the bathtub. The movie "Faces of Death" was much more disturbing to me because they were real life deaths. I couldn't sit through the whole video. ISOYG was pure entertainment. It's only a movie! Everyone was safe and no animals got hurt. I think the acting was great especially the rock scene. Once again "IT WAS ACTING NOT REAL". Just enjoy the movie for the entertainment value and you can't go wrong.

This is one of the better revenge films that i have seen come out of the 70's, it's only flaw is that it takes a lot from Cravens Last House On The Left, such as a scene where a mans penis is cut off, only in cravens it was done with teeth..(ouch)...despite this it is a decent film and if you have a chance to see it don't pass it up
