Pros: taut storyline and climactic ending
Cons: acting subpar,even for a B movie
This offering by George Romero is much more darker than his previous "DAWN OF THE DEAD". This film is set sometime after the last and now zombies outnumber humans at a ratio of 400,000 to 1. This fact serves to illustrate just how desperate things have become for the last of humanity. There is not as much action as Romero's last work but I feel the suspense and portrayal of humans brought to the breaking point is well done. The ending is very graphic but the special effects due seem a little dated. It would be interesting to see how the ending could be re-shot using todays computer enhanced effects. I definitely recommend this film if you are a fan of this type of movie.

I thought it was a little boring the whole time there done in the underground tunnel and it turned out to be a dream.

While, it is true that this is not as good as "Dawn", it's a good film on its own. Grim, dark, and claustrophobic, Romero manages to create an apocalyptic tone where zombies out number humans. The military characters are a bit cliche, but the non-military characters are interesting. Romero spends most of the movie setting the dark tone, and it is not until the end that the action takes off. But when it does, Savini's FX takes over, and the movie really takes off. Excellent. If you want to know how it feels like when the world is coming to an end (due to zombies) watch this.

A great end (at least I hope not) to Romero's DEAD trilogy. May be a little slow for some, but the ending is great and is horror in the true sense of the word. The story is about a group of scientists and soldiers taking refuge in a missile silo to come up with ideas to defeat the walking corpses roaming above them. True horror and a great follow-up to DAWN OF THE DEAD and far better than the Italian film ZOMBIE.

i have seen over 100 zombie movies and have over 50 and this is my true fav it looks real i think romero did a great job and i hope he makes a fourth one soon to compare to his others. if u like romeros work you might also like the crazies,dawn of the dead,night of the living dead,martin,knightriders,

This is one of my favorite horror films. It's got an interesting story, great effects, and a good old mad scientist. This is a must see for all of you zombie fans out there. But definatly not for the weak stomached.

I was very impressed with this mean mother of a film. Not quite as good as the masterpiece that was Dawn Of The Dead, but excellent none the less.
