Pop singer David Bisbal rose to fame quickly after competing on Spain's Operation Triumph, a reality program similar to the U.K.'s Pop Idol. The five-month program pitted young hopefuls against one another in a series of singing contests; Bisbal eventually finished second overall, and embarked on a successful concert tour with his fellow semifinalists. He issued his debut album in May 2003, and Corazon Latino and its single, "Ave Maria," went on to establish the young singer as Spain's newest pop star. In August of that year, Bisbal grabbed Best New Artist honors at the fourth annual Latin Grammys, held in Miami.
