Actor David Ackroyd is no relation to comedian Dan Aykroyd, despite the misguided (and misspelled) efforts of certain TV "experts" to link the two. Since the mid-1960s, Ackroyd has worked steadily as a stage, film and TV performer. Having toiled as a regular or semi-regular on such daytime dramas as Another World and Secret Storm, Ackroyd moved on to nighttime serial work in 1979 as the first Gary Ewing on CBS' Full David Ackroyd Biography
