So obscure is the 1975 20th Century LP by this Texas folkrock and countryrock duo that Song for You seems to get more attention for what it isn't than what it is, not that anybody actually knows what it is, since so few members of the human race seem to have heard it, at least compared to the booming audience for a 1986 album entitled Boomtown, also by a pair of singer/songwriter types with the same first name, as in David David.
The '80s group, based out of California, consisted of David Baerwald and David Ricketts whose fans, ever hungry for more by a group that never made more than one album, have begun regarding A Song for You as another album by "their" David David. The reality is that the 1975 effort, just a few blips away from an early Mahogany Rush effort in the label catalog, actually contains a song entitled "Butterflies and Life." David Whitson and David Phillips are the David David behind this and nine other original songs on the album.
