Excellent Movie
One of the best SciFi films since Blade Runner.

It was similar to matrix, being that it had to do with the illusions to control the mind of humans. The only difference was this not on earth, but on a alien spaceship. It was a good movie a great for any DVD sci-fi collection.

I saw this film in the theater and left with my mind a-whirl. The writer did a wonderful job of incorporating philosophy and psychology into the story. It has a similar darkness to that of the Matrix and addresses similar themes. However, because Dark City didn't have the hype or big-name actors/backing, I feel that it did a superior job of getting the message across.
Don't go in expecting incredible fight scenes or anything mainstream. It has fabulous special effects and a thought-provoking storyline. Approach Dark City as a philosopher rather than a disconnected viewer. You will not be dissapointed.Was this review helpful? Yes - NoHow could anyone NOT like this movie?
It was amazing. Simple and easy. The effects rocked, the story was deep and interesting, and it provided an interesting theory of extra-terrestrial life. Plus it was entertaining, had a great cast and showed very little to no flaws. Very impressive flick.

The thougt provoking plot and excelent acting captivated me throughout the film. Keither Sutherland was amazing, Rufus Sewell was fantastic, the scenery and costuming was so perfect! This is one of my favorite movies of all time!

The story is fresh and original; it keeps moving and there is never a dull moment. Compared to most sci-fi films, the dialogue is intellegent and the acting is top notch. Nothing award winning, but definitely better than the majority of what's out there. The music score fits superbly and the special effects give it a lot of flare. I usually don't bother writing reviews, but after seeing some of the previous reviews on here I had to write one of my own. I consider Dark City a modern sci-fi classic.

so it doesn't have the special effects of the matrix. i think this is better. the scenes and the atmosphere is successfully created. air of suspense is there. be prepared for a dark journey into the dark city...
