One of the best jazz violinists to emerge in the 1980s, Emery Davis is heard on this early CD performing post-bop originals that fall between hard bop and free jazz. Joined by either Brad Hatfield or Bevan Manson on piano, bassist Bob Nieske, and drummer Matt Wilson, the colorful music (which includes such titles as "Woody's Shoes," "Bullwinkle's Sidekick," and "Dante's Blues") holds one's interest throughout.
