    Dancing on the Couch

    Pros: a more complete album

Cons: not as many hooks as the first album

This album is a very accomplished one. Peter Cox and Richard Drummie (and Alan Murphy as well) have improved their writing and it shows. The album itself carries a somber feel and sorrow. From the opening drums of 'I Want to Hear It From You'... to the soulish synth ending of 'Dangerous' it will not dissapoint. It will not hit you as quickly as the first album though. It may take a few listens to really enjoy the whole masterpiece that it is. Every song is special in its own way. The jazzy 'The King is Dead' will delight and Cox's vocals really are wonderful on this one. 'From Baltimore to Paris' is a personal favourite. If that means anything to you. The bass from 'Masque of Love' will drown you and will get your fingers a tappin'. True Colours is Go West at their well Go West-esque. Simple bassline, heavy synth but somehow they pull it off and make it a great tune. The opening of 'Crossfire' is a beautiful one and will really allow you to loose yourself in the album (if you haven't been already). This is (sorry to have to take this from the Go West website, but it is very true) Go West for grownups. Being 16 myself though, This could quite possibly be my favourite Go West album. Go figure heh.Note: Album artwork is beautiful and the cover has a very pleasing picture of the Go West duo in front of dusk in England. I eventually plan on getting an album of this version just to frame it! Cheers,Evan Read more Less

    Outstanding & Innovative

This album still remains in my personal playlist today 11 years after its original release date. This is classic Go West but with a very artistic flair - to the musician and Go West fan, "Dancing On The Couch" is an outstanding mix of "adult-pop." S...uperb vocals, catchy melodies, creative arrangements, and fine musicianship are captured in every song. From the smooth jazz number "The King is Dead" to the creative, driving song "I Want To Hear it From You," Go West have successfully encapsulated various styles of modern music without leaving their "pop" trademark making this an album truly for all people to enjoy.
