in this album luther vandross is the best i've seen him in year. one of my favorite songson the whole album is the title track 'dance with my father' this make me cry alot. sings the song with passion and commitment. there are also some good colaboration from beyonce knowles and the queen herself. this song brought back alot of food memorys for me. it made me remember all the special moments. i shared with my father as well as the dances. we shared together. i can relate to dance with my father.

THE SONG "DANCE WITH MY FATHER" IS A VERY PASSIONATE AND SOULFUL SONG. IT HOLDS A VERY PERSONAL MEANING FOR ME SINCE I LOST MY FATHER NEARLY FIVE YEARS AGO TO EMPHYSEMA WHEN HE WAS ONLY 51. NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT I DONT WISH I COULD "DANCE WITH MY FATHER" AGAIN.

when i was around 8, my mom used to turn the radio down everytime she heard this song. Now, at 12, i learned why. She cries everytime she hears it. So do i. i remember my own dad, even though he hasn't died yet. It makes me appreciate how lucky i am to have a loving daddy who loves and cares for my mommy, my sister, and I. I dowloaded this song on my IPod, and i still cry everytime i hear it. I just want to say thank you for writing this song. It has touched my heart and has made a big impact on me and my family.

very rarely (possibly the second time this has happened) do i thoroughly enjoy an entire album from start to finish. He manages to capture the true essence of how lyrics define what we are feeling everyday. The collaboration with beyonce was superb. As are the tracks Buy me a Rose, Dance with my Father, If i didnt know better and Think about You. Really great album to play anywhere from long drives in your car to capturing that special moment with your loved one. 11 out of 10 :D

This album appears to retrace Luther back to his original roots, however, like some of his other faithful fans I wish he had remained strictly a balladeer, that is his trademark, and it should not change. The ballads are butter, and Dance with my Father will become a classic along with a House is not a home and If only for one night. Don't stray like the others Luther, keep giving us the nighttime love potion and let the rappers take care of the rest on their albums. This is not the best, but I give it a solid B+ for a great effort.

I have every Luther CD, except the "Best of" ones, so I know of which I speak. This is a mediocre effort, not his worst but no where near his best. The worst songs are the ones with rappers: Foxy, Busta, and Latifah. Luther, baby, no ones buys your CDs to hear rappers or hip hop. If I want Busta, I'll buy Busta. I buy Luther to listen to smooth ballads, one after the other, flowing from the first to the last. Well, that's not this album. It's too disjointed and sounds as if it were quickly put together. There are, however, some gems. The Beyonce duet is quite nice, but there are no vintage Luther songs here. But, ya gotta buy it 'cause it's Luther.

I have not liked a whole Luther CD since "Give Me The Reason", well that excludes his greatest hits CDs. I really like the whole CD. Many Years ago Brandy and Tevin Campbell did their version of "The Closer I Get To You" for the TV series New York Undercover and it was really good but it was never available for us to buy. Then I buy this CD and Luther teams up with Beyonce to do the song real justice. It was like Christmas on June 10, 2003. This is to me his best CD by far. A little old Luther with a little of the new and hip Luther. A great mix and if you have not ever been a true Luther fan than this is the CD to start.
