    Perfect

This is such a great CD, along with the other albums. I listen to it at least once a day and it always puts me in a great mood. Some of the songs are more upbeat while others are sad, but the lyrics are really great.

    my Eels collection is complete

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 12, 2001

An excellent album. Best songs are: Dasies of the Galaxy, Flyswatter, Tiger in my Tank, and Jeannie's Diary. Brilliant... not as disjointed as some of the songs sounded on Electro-Shock Blues. The best album is still Beautiful Freak, but this is stil...l a great album. Read more Less

    Startlingly Simple

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 10, 2000

Daisies of the Galaxy opens with a Beatles-ish horn section, which soon becomes quite disorganized and sloppy, eventually bowing out. This is the kind of odd post-pop fun (and statement?) seen in the Eel's latest gem. Simplicity is far too often avo...ided by musicians, each looking for a complex, rich sound. The Eels have that sound, heard in this collection of very simple songs (usually a few chords repeating) with striking conviction. Daisies is easily one of the best albums of the year. It is sad, sincere and perfectly honest. Read more Less

    Sublime

This is a truly great album - E's lyrics explain themselves, and the emotional rollercoaster of songs are breathtaking. Sad but beautiful.

    Great

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 17, 2000

I really wouldn't call this "life-affirming". Certainly not as gloomy as his previous work, but actually positive and joyful? Well, maybe if I immerse myself in the lyrics a bit more. Maybe E's storyteller is feeling positive on this album, but what... he describes seems less so, to me. What about the heartless hot dog kid in "Grace Kelly Blues" or his advice not to accept wooden nickels when you sell your soul? Or is he saying that selling your soul could be a good thing, as long as you don't accept crap as payment?Well, the album great, anyhow. Musically, my favourite track is probably "Flyswatter". Lyrically, I'm not really sure. I love the bits about Charles and Chuck, rockstar ashes, field mice, and wooden nickels, though. Read more Less

    Joy through misery

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 13, 2000

He's not having a great time of things, poor old E. His recent troubles are etched all over this gorgeous album. How he manages to write such life-affirming stuff is beyond me. Great tunes with wonderful instrumentation and lyrics that are touching ...while also being bloody funny! Read more Less

    Now this is music

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 19, 2000

The Eels are one of those unique bands that it is just a treasure to hear a new album. I feel it is a fine step forward for them. They may sound a little happier but they still have those dark lyrics that can make you think differently everytime you... hear them. I think the first was the best but this one is a fine addition to my collection. If you are an Eels fan I think you will love it, if not, you may find that you are going to be an Eels fan before it is over! Read more Less

    Different

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 18, 2000

I think that this album is a stroke of magic and I wish all the best of luck to the eels on this album. Because I am a eels fan myself I have there last two albums and I feel that there new album is a far cry to there last two. I think that the al...bum that showed all of the eels ability to create good and meaningful music was electro-shock blues. There is still a variation in there new album from the soft delicate sounds of Jennies Dairy to the tapping drum beat of Tiger In My Tank. Overall this album runs well and is a great buy for any eels fan or by someone that would like to here the eels. Read more Less

E does have a bright side!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 17, 2000

The new albumn is great...it brings along with it all the ingenuity of the last two but with a new happier tone. And as far as that Judas guy have a little decency and at least listen to tha albumn before you rate it :(
