Once again, the legendary god of vengeance, Daimajin, has been called to life by villagers being oppressed by an evil overlord. Typically, Daimajin does not limit his wrath to the wicked, forcing an army of samurai warriors to go up against the colossus. Widely considered the best of the trilogy, it's plot isn't not much different than DAIMAJIN, but it is still an impressive film and a something of a technical wonder; the towering and thundering Daimajin is really more of a spectacle than Hollywood's 1998 GODZILLA.     Often overlooked, yet great film

    This is a strange combination kaiju (giant monster) and samurai movie. Daimajin is the god of the mountains and spreads chaos in the form of destructive storms.This is where the movie opens.An evil lord has imprisoned the able men of a small village... and forces them to mine sulphur. Four young children from the village embark on a great journey across Daimajin's mountain to save their fathers and older brothers.What sets this apart from other diakaiju is the depth shown by the young boys who venture off to save the men of the village.This is not for the little kids as all of the children die (though three are resurected by Daimajin) during the journey.The end sequences are breathtaking as the 100 foot tall stone god destroys the evil lord's sulphur mine.Special effects are great, and the beauty of Diamajin's mountain is illustrated through wonderful cinematography.The letterbox format, excellent subtitles, superb video transfer, and engaging story make this a choice buy for the Japanese monster/samurai film lover.
