A rapper known for his heavily funktified live backing tracks, DJ Quick first came to prominence in the late '80s when AR man Dave Moss of Profile Records heard one of Quick's demos. Soon after the rapper released his debut album, Quick Is The Name, which went gold and showed his ability to put together live tracks which drew heavily from traditional funk music. After the success of his 1991 debut album, DJ Quick began producing for other artists such as Hi-C and 2nd II None. After another successful album, 1992's Way to Fonky, Quick released his third album, Safe+Sound, which included the single "Dollaz Sense" (later to appear on Snoop Doggy Dogg's Murder Was the Case album). Quick also lent his hand in producing several songs from the Snoop Doggy Dogg soundtrack.
