DAG is a funk bar-band that earned a loyal following around their hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina in the early '90s. The initial incarnation of the band featured Bobby Patterson (lead vocals, bass), Brian Dennis (guitar, backing vocals), Kenny Soule (drums, backing vocals) and Doug Jervey (keyboardist). After spending several years gigging, the group eventually earned the attention of the major labels; they signed with Columbia, releasing their debut album Righteous in 1994. It was a modest regional success and earned some positive reviews in national publications. Following its release, the group toured steadily and their lineup changed slightly, as Jervey left the group; he was replaced by Kai Russell and Jen Gunderman. They finally delivered their second album, Apartment 635, in the summer of 1998.
