Horrible movie

This is not at all a true story about the way people lived in the south back then. I'm from the south and I don't agree with anything they put in this movie. I think that they should ban selling it to anybody because it doesn't tell the truth about anything.

Pros: Great music, captures the spirit of Blues
Cons: Some characters and situations may be stereotyped
This is an excellent Blues movie! It may not be totally historically accurate or realistic, but it relys on history and captures and promotes the spirit of the Blues movement. Some characters and situations may be overly stereotyped, but that's Hollywood, and it doesn't detract much from the movie overall. It's a worthwhile musical journey that doesn't end at the end of the movie. (But that's not a request for a sequel!)

Pros: great sound cool story
Cons: took to long to come out.
Crossroads is a great story with the right name.
Actors and actress's had there musical talent put to the test on this one.
You have to remember how old this movie is as to the acting style,in 1986 it would have looked and sounded 100% compared to now.
We are just spoilt.
Any case great movie.Can't wait for it's release in australia.

From the first time you watch this movie you realize that this movie is pretty good. But, after really sitting down and watching this movie you realize that this movie is much more than a story of a young prodigy and an old blues man. It is the age old story about good verses bad. With good provailing at the end against one of the greatest guitar players in the world. Actingf was pretty good but the story and soubd track was in my opinion the best.

Cons: Lousy acting
If You like blues music, this is a need to have movie. It's as simple as that. I hope they have as perfect sound, as they did on my VHS when it was new and unused. A very rare good sound quality. Though I hate Ralph Macchio, I still gotta have this movie.

Pros: I am out at my mailbox at least 10 times a day to see if my album has arrived!!!
Cons: Only saw the last 10 minutes of the movie
I cannot write a complete review because I only saw what I feel was probably the last 10 minutes of the film and was awakened by the guitar playing and thought I was dreaming at first. The house could have burned down around me to jar me out of my comatose state.
This has got to be the most energetic music between these two geniuses I have ever heard and thought I've heard just about everything. It's been a good 5 years since I've been so ecstatic about any kind of music and go to the mailbox at least 10 times a day to see if my soundtrack has arrived. Makes me wonder where I've been for the past 5 years. The expressions on the faces of the two guitarists are so fascinating and wonder if they are merely acting or truly battling for the adoration of the audience. You'll love this movie! It is a nice tale, fairly well acted - though some of the dialog is pretty hokey, if not downright rediculous at times. The storyline has a couple holes as well. But a very good flick, with GREAT music (which was all written/performed by Ry Cooder, BTW, Steve Vai's part is limited to the last 5 min). If you like blues, you'll love the movie.

Man if there was ever a movie screaming to be take advantage of the sound features of DVD, this is it! Steve Vai rocks the whole film playing everything from Mississippi delta blues to classical to full blown electric blues that will leave you juming up and down dancing with the lost souls at the end. Maccio and Seneca play their roles well. Lots of heart in this movie. I will wait for the DVD because this movie is why God invented Dolby, Dts, and Surround Sound!
