    outstanding eastern front perspective

    Having seen this movie when it first came out some 20 odd years ago ,it still srikes a chord with me today.For one thing it came pretty close to depicting combat on the Eastern front and it was totally refreshing to see something from the German angl...e.Definitely one of the best war films ever made ,I agree with some reviewers that say it drags at times but the action sequences and visuals are outstanding.     One of the most underrated war films ever made and another genuine classic from Peckinoah. Orson Welles once said this was the greatest war film ever made, he wasn't far wrong. Without a doubt the best WW2 film ever, buy it and be blown away.

    Great pre- Private Ryan anti-war movie

    This is great anti-war movie, although at times the film drags and sometimes the "message" is lost in some unnecessary scenes. What makes this movie great is authentic depections of life on the eastern front for the German soldier. The actors speaki...ng english is a little silly though. If you liked this movie you will like Stalingrad(1993), i recomend the subtitiled version. Read more Less

    Peckinpah. What more can be said. The film's somewhat limiting content in no way detracts from the riviting, sometimes first-person view of war on the eastern front and its consequences for the "landser" who fought it.
