    Zen V Plus

By BillM  Apr 1, 2007 | 5 out of 6 found this Creative Zen V Plus (2 GB) review helpful

Pros: size, ease of use, features, price

Cons: standard earpiece is too large

Bought item as an economical mp3 player to use while working out. So far it has met all my expectations. Good quality and lots of storage for my personal needs. Didn't like the stock earpieces, as they are not adjustable and are really too big ...for my ear canals. Will probably replace them in the future. Lots of software included. Read more Less

    Pros: great radio

    Cons: computer unrecogniable

Like the size. Bought based on CNET reviews on how great it was. Should have done more back ground checks on blogs. Most users are finding that their computers are not recognizing the connection. After atleast 10 attempts to load/reload/unload an...d start all over again with Creative rep on the phone and still have not been able to use the MP3 side of the player. VERY EXPENSIVE RADIO! Very Durable and Small

By Sean Palladino  May 18, 2007 | 2 out of 4 found this Creative Zen V Plus (2 GB) review helpful

Pros: Price, Small Size, Features, and Easy to Use!

Cons: Capacity and.. well.. that's it!

I recently bought this MP3 player for running, and this is the best player I've seen! I was a little hesitant to purchase this player because the price was so low, but it does exactly what it says it would do. It plays music, show picture...s and videos, plays the radio, records your voice, and provides ample room for file storage. Music. I may not be an expert in music, but the sound quality was excellent. Very crisp. Even when running, I could hear every instrument in the songs I played. Video and Photos. With such a small player, I didn't expect them to be "the best". But man was I wrong! The photos looked beautiful. And you can use your photos has the players wallpaper, which is cool. The videos were outstanding as well. Widescreen videos are hard to see, though. So keep the videos to fullscreen. Radio. The radio signal was superb. Although, some stations didn't work in certain areas, but that's probably just like other radios. Good quality when you got a signal, though. Very crisp sound. What else? Oh, durability. After about three weeks of owning this player, it only has one scratch. Even though I use it everyday for running, it hasn't failed yet. It doesn't even skip a beat as I run, which is awesome! If you are a runner and/or want an MP3 player that does-it-all but doesn't leave you broke, then this is the one for you! :) Oh, and it's VERY portable, too. You already knew that? Well, I just wanted to remind you. ;) Read more Less

1 year and still love it

Pros: all the stuff the iPod does plus more and less of a price

Cons: not very good with Windows Vista yet

I spent about 6 months educating myself on mp3 player specs and slogging though search results before I finally decided to buy my Zen. I loved that it looked sorta like an iPod without being a knockoff and that I was getting all the stuff an iPod can... do without having to pay extra for a little picture of an apple on the back of it. In addition to the obvious music playing the Zen has a great photo viewing capability that also allows you to set one of your pictures as your background which surprisingly nobody mentioned in any of the reviews I read so it was a really nice surprise when I got it. It's also got an FM radio which is really great for those days when you're just really bored with all your music. I haven't really played with the video player too much but thats in there too. Another great thing is that the Zen is Plays For Sure guaranteed so you can use any download service and file type you want (except I don't think iTunes works). Oh and I almost forgot the little built in microphone that records with really great sound for a built in tiny microphone, and converts it to a .wav file. The Zen comes with a bunch of software that I expected to use once and then uninstall in favor of Windows Media Player but actually loved until I upgraded to Vista. Creative is, like everything else, still catching up to Vista's stupidness and right now whenever I want to add files I have to manually copy them from my computer to my player but I'm hoping that with the promised slew of Vista updates this winter there will be something to help my poor little self. Until this little thing with Vista I was extremely impressed with Creative's online support. About a week ago I emailed them to ask if there was anything else I could be doing to make everything run smoothly post Vista and was promised a response in 24 hours but in a week thay still have not answered me. I docked off one in the durability points only because there is a small hardly noticeable crack in the joystick of my Zen that I am pretty sure was caused by being in my backpack and then having my 30 pounds of books slammed into it when I threw down my backpack at home. Yes in case you havent noticed I'm a little hard on my gadgets :-). But anyway I am VERY happy with my Zen and there is probably alot of amazing stuff about it I forgot to mention but here you go. Zen is love, Vista is evil, have a nice day! Read more Less

    Disappointing

    By EmilyT  Oct 30, 2007

Pros: Good sound quality, compact and cute appearance

Cons: Freezes up on me frequently, does not charge with a car charger, only when plugged in to a computer

I have no problem with the battery life or features. I have been very frustrated by my Zen V Plus because frequently it freezes up. Often it is in the middle of a song, and suddenly it won't continue the song or escape out of it. So far I hav...e just had to let the battery die down and then recharge it. Apparently there also is something available to help with this on the website. Also I bought a car charger with a plug in that fits the Zen, but it will not charge from my car- only when plugged into a PC's USB port. If I could do it over again I would have payed the extra money for an I Pod. Read more Less

    I like my player

    By charity  Sep 5, 2007

Pros: small, easy to use, great price

Cons: accessories are a little pricey

My husband bought me this for my workouts and it works great. It's very durable and so light I barely even notice that I'm wearing it. For the price you pay, you are gettin a lot of really cool features.

    Pros: Everything

Cons: didnt have games....but thats not a bid deal.. wall charger not included

I LOVED this little device. The battery life is great on it and it is easy to use. Before i bought this i was trying to decide to get a Zen V or a Zen V Plus. Obiously I bought the Zen V plus and I think it is worth the extra money to get the plus. O...ne issue I had though is u can not see the screen in bright sunlight. Also u can only charge your device on a computer and it has to have the Zen V Plus software downloaded on it. I looked into a wall charger and it is too expensive to just get the charger and nothing else with it. Overall though i LOVE this thing Read more Less
