Pros: Cost relative to most expensive cards
Cons: Sound is poor
I purachased this sound card after reading many reviews. The poor reviews were typically written by gamers who purchased the card. Creative clearly states this card isn't designed for games rather it is designed as an audio only card. Since that ...was what I was looking for, I figured it would work fine and provide superior sound to my on board sound. Well I was wrong. The sound was the same or actually a bit worse than the on board sound. The sound was "muddy", "compressed", and the soundstage was inferior to what I had. I set the resolution as high as I could get it and played with the setting to no avail. I returned the card! Oh, I almost forgot, once I loaded the software and went to Creative's website to update the software it caused my computer to crash! The only option for support was via e-mail. The response I received indicated I would receive a reply in 24 hours. Read more Less

Pros: Perfect sound and installation was a easy
Cons: THX certification
Unlike the Extreme Music which I own on another PC, the quality of sound is indistinguishable. I am not a gamer so in no need of the higher end cards Creative has. I hooked the cards up to THX certified 2.1 Logitec speakers and the sound generated fr...om either card is awesome. To my ears they are the same even at recording. If your not a gamer and interested in the best music audio card the X-Fi Extreme Audio will do just fine without adding $30 more for the Extreme Music. Read more Less
