    Pros: 1 great CD

Cons: 1 not so great CD

There's 2 discs. One of them isn't so hot imho, and I switched CDs after the first 3 tracks... maybe there's better on that CD, but who cares because the 2nd CD is truly addictive. I think it's blue, but I haven't taken it out o...f my player since I stuck it in, and then my cousin took it back. bleh. Now I'm about to buy it for myself, even though I know I don't care for 1 of the 2 CDs. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Creamfields

  • All Music Guide

People who graze on CDs at the record store by strapping on the headphones and checking a couple tracks are going to pass on Creamfields, Paul Oakenfold's twoCD mix dedicated to the touring party it's named after. Disc one gets off to such a drab start you'll have to look twice at the cover to make sure this is Oakie and not some generic, ripoff trance compilation. It's a hectic but dropdead dull start, but come "Clear Blue," things get much better. Markus Schulz's "Clear Blue" is as vivid as its name and the following Carlos Vives track is a delicious combination of worldbeat chant and dancefloor drama. Things go back to safe for a little bit till our DJ gets quirky again and ends the first disc with some excitement. Front to back, disc two is much more successful. Oakenfold discovers breaks, bleeps, and boops for the first part of the set, works steadily up to his epic U2 remix, and exits with a couple reliable stompers. There are thrills but few surprises from this onetime maverick,... but if Oakie is trying to sonically reproduce the massive size of a Creamfields event, he's done it. Skip past the lackluster kickoff and think film composer John Williams as a DJ with a wicked haircut. - David Jeffries, All Music Guide Read more Less

Biography

Paul Oakenfold

Paul Oakenfold is the DJ, remixer, and producer who did more than anyone else to break house music in Britain during the late '80s. During 1987-88, Oakenfold hosted a series of crucial club-nights which introduced thousands of Brits to house music.
