They're pared down to a quartet for this 1991 date, and are doing hard bop, mainstream, and even pop-flavored originals, but The Blazing Redheads remain an inspiration as women instrumentalists determined not to dilute or downplay their prowess. Michelle Goerlitz is the new percussionist, while the twin horn frontline of Klaudia Promessi on tenor, alto, and flute and Donna Viscuso remained intact. Indeed, the quartet sound with contrasting reeds, drums, and Latin percussion is quite striking, and Promessi And Viscuso extend themselves to substitute for the absence of bass, piano, or brass counterpoint.
