The title says it all. A blues-inflected, rootsy joyride through the gutters of rock and roll. Pickett's big, brawling voice is a joy to hear, and John Salton's guitar makes a joyful noise. Although at the time post-punk roots rock revisionists (e.g., Jefferey Lee Pierce) were getting lots more ink, Pickett's records, while not as self-consciously arty, were certainly as good. And this may well be his best. Lone caveat: this is an EP. It was, however, rereleased on compact disc in 1989 with The Wilderness.
