Marty Stuart - Country Music (CD)

I have always enjoyed the music that Marty Stuart puts out. This album is no exception. As far as blending the traditional elements of country music and infusing new energies into them, this album is a prime example. The music has a new but famili...ar feeling and the lyrics definitely showcase a maturity that is definitely lacking in the music industry today. The greatest strength of the album is the wide variety of subject matter. One thing that continually frustrates me about country music today is the bludgeoned emphasis on romance in most albums. Romance is great, please don't misunderstand me; but that's not all that life contains. Songs such as "Sundown in Nashville", "Farmer's Blues", and "Walls of a Prison" are just three of the all-encompassing tracks that Stuart offers on this album. He still delivers great romantic tracks like "By George" and "Fool for Love". One is fun and the other reflective, respectively. To wrap it up, the greatest appeal of this album is Stuart's gamut of subject matter. This provides the base that is accentuated by the lyrics and music. I give it five stars. But I encourage anyone to still listen before buying an album. As many of us discovered with Metallica's "St. Anger" offering, listening may save you some cash and some grief, along with your ear drums. Read more Less
