One of the original and most popular San Francisco Bay Area psychedelic bands, Country Joe the Fish, was formed by lead singer Country Joe McDonald (b. Jan. 1, 1942). The Berkeley group still had one foot in the jugband sound on their first EP, released in 1965 (featuring a folk version of their anthem "I-Feel-like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die Rag"). By the time of their second EP in 1966, though, they had plunged full-tilt into the burgeoning psychedelic sound, with raga-ish, heavily distorted guitars...
