Synopsis: Cornbread, Earl and Me (1975)

This early commentary on the practice of racial profiling features one of the earliest performances by the young Laurence Fishburne, in a heartrending story of a talented young black athlete who is gunned down by police after being mistaken for a violent crook. After his murder, his parents struggle to clear their son's name in the face of a police cover-up.

    CLASSIC OLD SCHOOL

    Pros: TERRIFIC ACTING FROM ALL PRINCIPALS

    THIS MOVIE IS ONE OF MY OLD SCHOOL FAVS. I DIDN'T KNOW THE LITTLE KID WILFORD, WOULD GROW UP TO BECOME ONE OF MY FAVORITE ACTORS LAURENCE FISHBURNE. HE DID HIS THING IN THIS MOVIE. I ALSO ENJOYED THE PERFORMANCE OF ROSALIND CASH AND BERNIE CAS...EY. THE STORY WAS PRETTY STRAIGHTFORWARD, YOUNG BASKETBALL STAR, WHO RECEIVED SCHOLARSHIP, TO GOOD SCHOOL, FINALLY LEAVING THE GHETTO, GETS SHOT TO DEATH A WEEK BEFORE HE'S SCHEDULED TO LEAVE AND THEN THE COVERUP BY THE COPS. CORNBREAD GOT JUSTICE IN THE END, AND LITTLE WILFORD, DID THE RIGHT THING, AND WENT FROM BEING A LITTLE BOY TO A MAN. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Read more Less
