Publisher Notes: Conversion of Sarah Doherty & Two Jewish Maids

  • The books in this series are copies of 18th and 19th century books. The stories have the original language, sentence structure, and art. The stories present problems people faced, and the principles they preached are as relevant today as they were then. May God be pleased to bless the contents of our "Children's Heritage Series" to the lives of each reader. Webster's warning was given many years ago; times have changed, but not in a Godly manner.

The mission of Triangle Press is to furnish concerned parents tools to help teach children the truth. This "Children's Heritage Series" has not been rewritten as the Character Building Series was, but the books are reproduced in their original form; a form which some feel is antiquated. True. However, they represent not only the teachings of Godly principals, but they also represent a piece of our history and heritage. The vocabulary contained in these books is rich and varied; it is a far cry from the usual limited and bland use of words found in much of today's children's literature. Some children may even be challenged to rewrite a story in modern grammar; the stories may also be used as a springboard for family study and discussion. There are many aspects of this "Children's Heritage Series" to be cherished.

    Sarah Doherty

Sarah Doherty was a devout Catholic, a shining example of her faith, when she was sent to work for a Protestant widow. Her story is one of questioning, learning, and how she moved from trying to find something wrong with these new ideas to what God's Word had to say to her. Convicted and shocked, she wanted salvation. Her actions led to cruel punishment, excommunication and persecution. Her story is one of love forher fellow man, change, and devotion to her Lord.

    Thirza

She crept into the rear of the church to unobtrusively listen to the message. The young Jewess had entered into a journey of great proportions. God's Word penetrated to her inmost soul as she struggled to learn and understand. She was tried in a fiery furnace of utter rejection by her father and the subsequent events, the Lord watched and guided this young woman to a wonder-filled conclusion.

    Leila Ada, the Jewish Convert

Here is a compelling short story of a well educated young Jewish woman who sought to understand the Scriptures. She began by reading the New Testament to prove to herself how misguided the Christians were. Christians said the old prophecies had been fulfilled, and the only way she could refute this dreadful mistake was to read their book. Later her eyes fill with tears of joy, and then suffering overtakes her life as she lives her new faith. The culmination of the story is touching and spiritually uplifting.
