    Controversy

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 12, 2006

Pros: This album was out way before its' time. This album is very relevant to what the state of the world is today!

    Cons: Sometimes the truth hurts!

This album originally debut in 1981. Featuring the title track controversy, in this track prince asks" do I believe in god? Do I believe in me?" controversy is so hip and stylish piece of art. Track# 2, Sexuality is a up tempo hyper sexy tu...ne, with prince on the main vocals this track is a protest at society and how closed minded our world is... track that can't be missed, and may still be making babies today is "Do me baby" this track is a major score for lovers and people in love period, A Home run with this one. If you don't get laid after playing this one, you partner may be deaf? The rest of this album of loaded with political messages like the hippy title Annie Christian or the party hit Private joy. This album is very in-tunes with our society today! I suggest if you've never head this one from Prince, go pick this up today! Peace & Enjoy! Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Controversy

  • All Music Guide

Controversy continues in the same vein of new wave-tinged funk on Dirty Mind, emphasizing Prince's fascination with synthesizers and synthesizing disparate pop music genres. It is also more ambitious than its predecessor, attempting to tackle social protest ("Controversy," "Ronnie, Talk to Russia," "Annie Christian") along with sex songs ("Jack U Off," "Sexuality"), and it tries hard to bring funk to a rock audience and vice versa. Even with all of Prince's ambitions, the music on Controversy doesn't represent a significant breakthrough from Dirty Mind, and it is often considerably less catchy and memorable. Nevertheless, Prince's talents as musician make the record enjoyable, even if it isn't as compelling as most of his catalog.
