Yet Another Mediocre Dive For Series

    By Michael T  Jul 29, 2001

The full length features which comprise the arc for this science fiction franchise were put forth for its rabid audience in quick succession and thus were subject to vary in quality. "Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes" can boast dynamic efforts by ...Don Murray as Breck and Hari Rhodes as an assistant with reservations for his superior. However this installment suffers from ludicrous scenarios due to the script and its execution. One example finds the late Roddy McDowall as his own son- since he was in the role of Cornelius in two of the three previous chapters- chosen to mate with yet another chimpanzee who strikes her suggestive pose prior to breeding. Watch the prelude that anticipates the clash at the conclusion as other simians in the work force are seen to to shirk responsibilities as slaves and you will notice the ridiculous assert itself despite the intention to address exploitation. J. Lee Thompson was in such awe of the Watts Riots which took place several years prior to this project and thus the director in question took his impression of that event to apply in this franchise once he was at its helm. Somehow the apes are successful in revolution and they earn victory with far too much ease and therefore without credibility. The score by Tom Scott bears too heavily in scenes that utilize his music and that further hampers the potential for effect which this project strives too hard for. Read more Less

Conquest of the Planet of the Apes

By Darth Dooku  Jun 1, 2001

Chimpanzee Caesar leads a revolt against mankind. This is the basic plot of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, the foutrh movie in this epic sci-fi quintology. Without revealing the plot to the story, it deals a lot with racism and revolution. It is... a great movie, but it cannot be seen alone. It should be seen with the whole Planet of the Apes series. It is a very well done movie that would have been controversial, if it was not done with apes. If you have not seen it, rent the whole series and watch them today! Read more Less
