The norteño sextet Conjunto Primavera was founded in Ojinaga, Chihuahua on the first day of spring in 1978; comprising singer Tony Melendez, accordionist/keyboardist Felix Contreras, saxophonist Juan Dominguez, bajosexto player Rolando Perez, bassist Oscar Ochoa and drummer Adan Huerta, the group languished in relative obscurity for well over a decade, releasing some twenty LPs for the Joey label to little notice.
