Another great album by this group from the west coast of Canada!If you are a fan of the group you can see that the group is going forward in there music. If your not a fan or new to the group this is a great album to begain with. Photgraph is a great.

She's best in BLUE area. Sultry vocalist and pianist Norah Jones developed her unique blend of jazz and traditional vocal pop with hints of bluesy country and contemporary folk due in large part to her unique upbringing. Born March 30, 1979, in New York City, the daughter of Ravi Shankar quietly grew up in Texas with her mother. While she always found the music of Billie Holiday and Bill Evans both intriguing and comforting, she didn't really explore jazz until attending Dallas' Booker T.

So, like, Norah is the greatest female singer ever to walk the earth!!! And "Seven Years", I think, was overlooked as "Don't know why" rose to the top. But, either way, the whole album is awesome! I would recommend it to anyone!

Norah Jones's debut on Blue Note is a mellow, acoustic pop affair with soul and country overtones, immaculately produced by the great Arif Mardin. (It's pretty much an open secret that the 22-year-old vocalist and pianist is the daughter of Ravi Shankar.) Jones is not quite a jazz singer, but she is joined by some highly regarded jazz talent: guitarists Adam Levy, Adam Rogers, Tony Scherr, Bill Frisell, and Kevin Breit; drummers Brian Blade, Dan Rieser, and Kenny Wolleson; organist Sam Yahel; accordionist Rob Burger; and violinist Jenny Scheinman. Her regular guitarist and bassist, Jesse Harris and Lee Alexander, respectively, play on every track and also serve as the chief songwriters. Both have a gift for melody, simple yet elegant progressions, and evocative lyrics. (Harris made an intriguing guest appearance on Seamus Blake's Stranger Things Have Happened.) Jones, for her part, wrote the title track and the pretty but slightly restless "Nightingale." She also includes convincing readings of Hank Williams's "Cold Cold Heart," J.D. Loudermilk's "Turn Me On," and Hoagy Carmichael's "The Nearness of You." There's a touch of Rickie Lee Jones in Jones's voice, a touch of Bonnie Raitt in the arrangements; her youth and her piano skills could lead one to call her an Alicia Keys for grown-ups. While the mood of this record stagnates after a few songs, it does give a strong indication of Jones' alluring talents.

norah jones is simply amazing! my fave song in this album is "dont know why"...love it, love it, love it!!! gosh, you have to have this album on your shelves, otherwise, you missed something so smooth & sexy. buy this and you won't regret any single cent.

Pros: I like the music. Lots of variation and a few great tracks.
Cons: Constant clicks from the "anti-piracy" software when I play it on my normal CD player.
I really like this album, but I'm playing it less and less. It is an original CD and I paid full price for it, but the record company thinks that I'm some kind of criminal that needs to be prevented from ripping it. Well there are two downsides to this for me: I could not listen to the music on my own iPod (in Europe this would be a reasonable thing to do) and I get a whole load of digital clicks and faults when listening on my hi-fi. There are also a few points where the vocals clip digitally, or the stereo image moves suddenly a couple of feet to the left and then back. I paid a lot for my kit and it is reference standard, but it shows up all the flaws in this recording to the point of spoiling my enjoyment of it.

this girl actually takes me away when i hear her cd... she's got a sweet mellow voice that almost hypnotically lulls you into the song.. each song almost takes me on a trip or puts me into her shoes... GREAT cd.. BUY IT
