    Not as exciting as expected

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 18, 2006

Pros: Strong lyrics, and good music for the softer listeners

Cons: Not quite the hard riffs introduced in collide

I must say I was a bit let down by this album. After they're awesome appearance in collide, I was expecting something even better, but instead it was more of a slow album. Only a few songs show the strong hard guitar riffs that they used in colli...de. If you're looking for something like collide, look into Red - End of Silence, and Decyfer Down - End of Grey. AWESOME

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 7, 2006

Pros: TEN well written songs. Worth every penny!

    Cons: ONE no-so-great song.

This is the best album I have heard in years. 10 out of 11 songs get my approval - and I'm a harsh critic. There is so much to take in from this album. You literally have to listen to it many times before you even begin catching all that have bee...n put into the songs. On my 3rd time through the album, I discovered an awesome part of Comatose that I didn't catch the first two times around. Great vocals, splendidly chunky guitars, wicked keyboard, and emtional drumming; the whole package has arrived. Read more Less

  • All Music Guide

This is a melodically stunning record where instrumentation strikes the disc's first chord. "Rebirthing" is a grand opening statement. Guitarist Ben Kasica cooks a delectable platter of tasty lead fills that are accompanied by orchestral tones all over the disc. The same is true of the title track "Comatose." Here the band uses a proven recipe, staccato guitars, piano and orchestration to bring the tune home. "The Last Night" feels like classic Skillet. The tune boasts a ‘feel good' chorus that shouts radio friendly. The same is said for "Yours To Hold,"again, John Cooper's familiar vocals and warm vibe emulate from the tune. The same sensation strikes the track"The Older I Get." Here, the tune is once gain radio ready with an infectious, sing able chorus. Comatose is a record that sustains on many levels. John Cooper is really on target. Quiet moments like "Say Goodbye" are effectively woven with heavier moments like "Those Nights." When guitar progressions meet piano nuances special... things happen with this band. - Steven Douglas Losey, All Music Guide Read more Less
