Before she was a singer/songwriter, Coles Whalen fronted a band in Los Angeles for two and a half years before going solo. She released an EP of solo work, purchased a truck and a camper, and began playing venues and selling her EP throughout the western United States. After selling over 2,000 copies of her work, Whalen decided that it was time to record new material. The result was her first album, Gee Baby, which was released in 2005.
