With influences ranging from doom titans Saint Vitus and Sleep, to the obligatory genre originators Black Sabbath, California doom outfit Cold Mourning evolved in 1992 from an earlier band named Cremation (originally formed in 1986). Their first demo followed two years later and then a split record with Holland's Officium Triste, a split 7" single with While Heaven Wept, and, in 1999, an appearance on the At the Mountains of Madness compilation.
