It eats tapes!

Cons: eats tapes; not acceptable radio reception
The Coby CX-144 eats tapes.
This is not just one bad example. I bought two, thinking it was a bargain, and both eat tapes.
For a low cost small cassette recorder radio, get the Durabrand CT-995. I got it at Walmart for under $10.00. It has great sound, has never eaten a tape, runs on 4 "c" batteries, and gives you more than many models costing around $50.00.Was this review helpful? Yes - Nogood value
Pros: great for the price!
Cons: sound not adequate for serious music
The Coby cx-144 is great for what it is: a low-priced cassette recorder AM-FM radio.
I use it to record and play back my favorite "talk radio" programs. It's perfect for that. It uses only 4 D batteries, and they last long in it.
OK, I have a BOSE version that cost roughly 100 times more than the Coby. The Coby doesn't sound as great for music as the BOSE.
But, the Coby is perfect for what it is: an inexpensive, lightweight, portable radio/recorder.Was this review helpful? Yes - No
